This high powered but lightweight LED zoom headlight is as powerful as you will ever need for both shore / beach or carp fishing.
Use on spot/high power for landing that big cod or wide beam/half power for baiting up or landing carp!
It has the convenience of using readily available, cheap AAA rather than the more expensive Li-ion batteries used in some of the more expensive units.
Headlights of comparable power cost from at least £50 to £75 (or more!).
This headlight can be yours for the above bargain price.

Lumen Maintenance Projections
Based on internal long-term reliability testing, the manufacturer projects that the LED maintains an average of 70% lumen maintenance after 50,000 hours, provided the LED junction temperature is maintained at or below 135ºC and the LED is operated with a constant current of up to 700 mA.
The manufacturer currently recommends a maximum drive current of 700 mA for the LED in designs seeking the ENERGY STAR* 35,000 hour lifetime rating (= 94.1% luminous flux @ 6000 hours) or 25,000 hour lifetime rating (= 91.8% luminous flux @ 6000 hours).
* These lifetime ratings are based on the current ENERGY STAR Solid State Lighting Luminaires V1.1 (December 12, 2008) and ENERGY STAR Integral LED Lamps V1.0 (December 3, 2009) lumen maintenance criteria.
---------
Moisture Sensitivity
In testing, the manufacturer has found the LED to have unlimited floor life in conditions = 30ºC / 85% relative humidity (RH).

Batteries (Suitable for this Headlight):
Batteries Not Included!
• Type: 3 x AAA;
• 1.5v: Standard and Alkaline (Not rechargeable!);
• 1.25v: Rechargeable NiCd,NiMH or Hybrid batteries;
---------
Comments:
Standard and Alkaline:
Susceptible to decrease of light output as battery discharges and considerable reduction due to low temperature operation.
Rechargeable NiCd,NiMH:
Charge content of batteries reduces rapidly; requiring recharge before use!
Rechargeable Hybrid batteries:
They will retain 90 % of their capacity after 6 months and approx 85 % after 12 months; charging not required before use.
Light output does not appear to drop as batteries discharge and no appreciable loss in output at low temperature operation.

Recommendations
Today, the best rechargeable batteries are the new hybrid Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) cells. These hybrid batteries have a lot going for them: they come fully charged (like alkaline batteries), and they can hold their charge over many months (unlike regular Ni-MH rechargeables). Because they can hold their charge for so long, they are suitable for low-drain devices like remote controls and flashlights. But they are also ideal for use in high-drain electronic devices like digital cameras.
Hybrid Batteries.
Sanyo
Eneloop batteries are Ni-MH batteries made by Sanyo in Japan. Sanyo says Eneloops can be recharged up to 1000 times, and they will retain their charged capacity even after 6 or 12 months of storage. (According to Sanyo the specs are: 90% of charged capacity retained after 6 months, and 85% capacity after 12 months at 20 degree Celsius). The AAA-sized (R03) cells are rated at 800 mAh. A pack of four AAA Eneloops costs about £7.35 + Free P&P. The charge time is as follows: 135 minutes.GP Recyko+
GP Recyko+ batteries keep 90 per cent of their charge during storage. Thus effectively making them as convenient to use as disposable batteries, but with the power and savings of a rechargeable. They will stay 90 per cent charged for six months after charging and can be recharged up to 1,000 times. The AAA-sized (R03) cells are rated at 850mAh. A pack of six AAA GP Recyko+ costs about £5.18 + Free P&P.
SMA Tackle use GP Recyko+ batteries!
